What You Will Learn
Ableton Live is an established DAW used in myriad aspects of studio-based and live music. Live is extended by Max for Live, a toolkit for making and sharing custom instruments, effects, and visuals, and devices which can take control of the inner workings of Ableton itself. Targeting those less-familiar with programming, this workshop emphasizes hacking as a means of exploration: instead of starting from scratch, participants will learn how to modify the code of existing devices to suit their own creative ideals. This workshop will culminate with an open studio for participants to share what they are working on, creating opportunity for future collaboration.
Workshop Prerequisites
Working knowledge of the Max/MSP interface: easily switching between edit mode, locked mode, and presentation mode; configuring audio settings; adding, editing, removing objects.
